Maintaining Your Garden

A garden is one of the many things that can help a person relax and unwind. A person may simply view the beautiful landscape and he or she may have a feeling of relaxation. The view of the landscape makes a person appreciate the finer things in life. After-all a garden is a sort of miniature forest. You can even make that miniature rain forest to your own liking, without the snakes and leeches.

However to be able to achieve that beautiful landscape you would need to work on it. That’s the difference of the rainforest. Their beauty has grown naturally, while you have to work on your garden to make it beautiful.

To make your plant’s grow properly you would need to check what kind of soil you have. You would need to check the pH levels of your soil. The soil must be within the plant’s alkaline or acid levels before it can accept the minerals. Usual plants take in neutral pH levels of 6.2-6.8. But there are plants would require less or more.

Another thing to check for is the soil’s texture. Your soil’s texture might be sandy or sandy loam, rocky, heavy clay or ideal soil. Organic matter such as compost can help the texture of the soil, no matter what texture it is.

The next thing you’d need to work on is choosing the right plant. Not all plants can live on your place’s climate. You would need to figure this out by learning more about the plant. This will help you become less dismayed when you expect that plant to grow. But it really can’t because of your climate.

After figuring all these stuff and being able to plant your plants now. You would need to learn to maintain them. If you don’t, they might just turn into the weeded forest in your nightmares. Here are some maintenance tips.

-Plants require an inch of water a week. If it rains, you’ll be lucky not to water them. Prevent your plant from getting stressed from drought. If they get stressed out, they will never fully recover during that season.

-Remove the weeds.

-To make the plants bloom longer and look fresher you should remove the spent blossoms or deadheading.

-If you harvest the vegetables while they are younger, they will produce more.

-Stake the taller plants to prevent flopping.

Always remember to check out every plant you have. They should all have the same maintenance. Having a prima dona plant will only make your gardening life worse.
